BOTTLE SHUT DOWN
CAUSE:
There are several reasons that a bottle may have shut down and the bottle LED no longer illuminates on the bike and no longer responds to inverting / up-righting . This can happen if the bottle has been left too long empty, or as a result of an impact like a large pot hole or damage to the bottle itself.
FIX:
A. Bottle stored too long empty: In this case test to see if the bottle will charge – the charger block LED should illuminate red if it is charging. If not, try disconnecting and reconnecting, or connecting to the bike then charging again. If the bottle will still not charge and the charger LED stays green and the bottle will not wake up – contact Cytronex Support. If the charger LED does turn red (charging) then charge for 20 minutes only first then disconnect and make sure the bottle is awake before fully charging. Never fully charge a bottle where the bottle LED does not illuminate during charging.
B. If the shut down occurred immediately after a large impact such as a deep pot hole or after the bottle was dropped: You could try the following first (at your own risk) or contact Cytronex Support straight away: in some cases the bottle will come back to life when charged for a short period, but this should only be done with great care. Only try charging for about 1 minute at a time and if the bottle LED does not illuminate try once more, but do not leave a shut down bottle charging unattended, and if the shut down occurred on a bike – do not connect any other bottle to this bike. If you find the bottle LED comes back on – please use the Bluetooth App to send a log using “Diagnostics” – connecting to USB after a shut down event is not advised, as a short circuit could damage the device it is connected to. If the bottle does come back to life – you could test with the bike at your own risk (in case there is motor damage) – if the bottle shuts down again contact Cytronex Support via the message below, explaining the chain of events in as much detail as possible and we will advise the best course of action. It is likely in these circumstances that we will need to test the whole bike.
If your bottle has shut down, please contact us immediately using the message form below stating what happened at the time of shut down and enclosing any relevant photos (max 200K file size please). It is very important to let us know about any events that occurred at the time in case there is damage to the bike which could in turn damage any new or repaired electronics.
